West Ham got their second home win of the season thanks to great performances from Diangana and Felipe Anderson. The wingers were instrumental in getting the Hammers firing.

After a disappointing week West Ham needed to try and spur life back into the Hammers’ faithful. Scoring 4 goals in their home match against Burnley was a great way to do just that. The two most important players in the that win had to be the wingers, young boy Diangana and record signing Felipe Anderson.

After some stick in the games beforehand, Anderson was on fire and could have had 4 goals in the game. If not for one amazing clearance off the line and one chance clipping the woodwork, it would have been an even bigger win. Diangana, in for the injured Yarmolenko, showed the talent he has against a strong opponent. Can this continue for games to come?

More from Green Street Hammers - West Ham

After being hit on social media for the past few games, Anderson showed exactly why the club paid 40m for him in the summer. He was aggressive on his wing, cutting in and getting off 5 shots on goal. One was cleared off the line with an amazing header and another clipped the post, but he found the back of the net with 2 others. Out of all the Hammers on the pitch, he had more of the ball than any other, claiming a massive 8% of all possession on the pitch to himself, making more passes than anyone and only coming in second on dribbles and chances created to the West Ham man on the other side.

Diangana made a big impact when he got his debut against Macclesfield, but this was a different calibre of performance. Against a tough Premier League side he showed he had the flair, control and vision to be a top winger. His assist for Anderson’s first was clever and brave, and he should have had a penalty. Burnley manager Dyche praised his attitude after the match, saying it was because he didn’t go crazy in the fall that it wasn’t given. His maturity is hopefully a sign he’s more Declan Rice than Zavon Hines.

Must Read. Hammers must axe passenger players. light

With Yarmolenko injured we can hop that Diangana will have a successful run in the side. Special mention must also go to Snodgrass in the middle, who put in a wonderful shift. Although he is unlikely to nail down a position there long term, his work rate puts him top of any squad player role. He was selfless and his awareness on the ball led directly to Chicharito’s match clinching goal. Going forward, it was a truly great performance to watch.
