GSH Predicts West Ham vs Leicester: Can Hammers outwit the Foxes?
West Ham are set to travel to Leicester after back to back defeats. Both sides have shown promise, but also weaknesses. Can the Hammers return to winning ways?
Adam: 3-0 West Ham
Go big or go home, right? West Ham have been snake bitten in their last two matches, going goalless in both. They need to start scoring and I think this match, much like the Everton match, can be a jumping off point for the hammers. Arnautovic is hungry and motivated, Anderson has a lot to prove, and Snodgrass/Diangana want to be starters therefore need to produce.
The lopsided score line hinges upon momentum for the Hammers. If they can score early I see them cruising to a victory where they dominate the stat lines. Like against Everton or Manchester United, an early goal can set the tone for the entire match and can proverbially get the money off the teams back. If they don’t score early I don’t like their chances. Here’s hoping they can get on the foxes quick and finish a little more clinically than in recent matches.
Jeremiah: 1-1 Draw
I hate the cliche “must win” but this match to me is a must win! It’s never fun or easy to play at Leicester but that is the task at hand this week. Last week was a heart breaker losing the Derby and having Yarmolenko go down with injury. We need a change in form I think and we need to play with more heart. It’ll be a close, hard fought match with a potential goal coming late to tie it up. A must win that we won’t win but I’m happy with the point. 1–1 Draw! COME ON YOU IRONS!

I don’t feel nearly as good about West Ham as I did a few weeks ago—and that big 3-1 win over Man U notwithstanding. The injuries are mounting (the West Ham way!) and the goals have dried up. If the chances could be converted I think the club can easily return to the good form of September and so would my positivity.
One thing Leicester City can do is score goals behind James Maddison and Jamie Vardy. That’s really the difference between the two clubs: The Foxes have 6 more goals than the Hammers, resulting in two more wins and six more points. And to be fair, the Foxes fixtures have been a tad easier than West Ham’s, but they have taken care of the business when expected to.
I think West Ham goes into this match intent on a result. They need points after two consecutive losses. And an away point will do as something to build on for the Irons before matches against Burnley, Huddersfield, Newcastle and Cardiff City ahead (sandwiching Man City at London Stadium).
Scott: 2-2
It’s a tough game against Leicester, because they have a very efficient system. Vardy and Iheanacho are pacey strikers, whilst Maddison will create chances any way he can. Add to that a robust, if old fashioned, back line and you have a difficult task. But I’m pretty sure this game will bring goals for both sides.
Looking at the teams at the moment they seem to be made of effective players, and I can see them cancelling each other out. Snodgrass is likely to fill straight in for Yarmolenko and the Hammers will pack the midfield again. Can someone get up an support Arnautovic? Can we stop their midfield and attack linking? I think we’re going to see a few goals in this encounter.
