West Ham have come through the worst of the opening fixtures, and aren’t in the relegation zone. Now, as the fixtures open up, which Hammers should you be considering as FPL assets?

It’s always tough playing FPL when you are not a supporter of a ‘top’ club. West Ham have had patches throughout the past few years, but nothing consistent and as such bringing in Hammers to the fantasy foray can be full of issues of favouritism or almost betting against your own side. But now, I think there are 5 players you could consider for your FPL teams for the weeks ahead. with the Hammers only playing 1 top 6 club before the 12th of January, fixtures are looking pretty kind.

Fabianski

More from Green Street Hammers - West Ham

Position: GK

Price: 4.5m

Ownership: 13.4%

Pros: Most saves in the Premier League. Defence looking less leaky as time goes by.

Cons: It’s still West Ham’s defence, the odd goal will be conceded due to someone messing up.

If you’re looking for a cheap ‘set and forget’ keeper to take you up to the new year then I think you’re doing pretty well with Fabianski. At only 4.5m he is the Hammers second highest FPL scorer so far, and given we’ve only had one CS so far that’s pretty impressive.

The issue is the reason he’s made a lot of saves is because the Hammers allow a lot of shots. Which increase the likelihood of conceding a goal even when your keeper is playing a blinder. But Fabianski has shown he’s a consistent shot stopper, and with the fixtures easing up he could be a very good option.

If you currently have one premium keeper and a 4.0m bench keeper, bear in mind that bringing in Fabianski and someone like Wolves’ Patricio will mean there is less money tied up in your keepers, and give you a decent chance of one of them keeping a clean sheet. The only issue is you will have to pick which one that’s going to be each week which isn’t always the easiest thing. But a Wolves/West Ham rotation does play quite nicely for the rest of the year.
