West Ham, after starting the season so poorly, seem to have turned a corner. 4 points from Premier League games we usually lose and an 8-0 thumping in midweek. Can the Hammers ride this high?

Adam: 2-0 to West Ham

I slated myself in episode 3 of the podcast for picking West Ham to beat Chelsea 2-1 but Manchester United and Chelsea are worlds apart right now. With United’s on-field issue being matched by off-pitch problems it seems like there may be an opportunity for West Ham to challenge the historical titans and take all three points at home.

West ham will need to compete in all three areas of the pitch to contend: Dominate the midfield with Rice, Noble, and Obiang, stop the West Ham slayer Lukaku from getting time and space to create, and Yarmolenko, Anderson, and Arnautovic need to pick up where they left off in the Everton match. West Ham have the talent and form to win this game, but they need the mental fortitude to stay disciplined and they’ll need the backing of the home crowd to turn the London Stadium into a fortress.

Jeremiah: 2–1 to West Ham

What a week it’s been. Drew to Chelsea and absolutely dominated on Wednesday in a game we won 8-0. Pellegrini looks to have his top 11 and looks to have them playing well. There’s no doubt that in the last few weeks we have sprung to life and returned to form.

In walks Manchester United. The name always strikes fear in my heart and they have a few players that seem to always dominate us. Yes true but, our defense and midfield has been in form and have shut down top teams the past few weeks. I think we stay in form and hopefully get Marko or Chicha back. I’m going with my patented 2-1 victory. COME ON YOU IRONS!

Scott: 1-1

It looks like I’m being the pessimistic one again, and who would have thought that would have been the case in predicting a draw with United? It’s a strange turn of events but in the last few weeks it’s all gone well for the Hammers and apart from a UCL win for United it’s all going a bit wrong. Will Pogba be in the side to play the Irons? Will he be played at left back? Who knows what’s going on in Mourinho’s head?

The Hammers will get more of the ball than they did against Chelsea and they have to use it well. Against the Blues they attacked quick and made inroads there, but we need to be sensible here as well. United have Martial, Lukaku and Rashford, all who love a goal against us, and they have more than enough game winners elsewhere too. But I think Pellegrini’s side can be a match for the Red Devils on Saturday.

Jeff: West Ham to win 2-1

Call it a buzz from beating up a League Two Side midweek in that 8-0 laugher. Or maybe it’s that the club is unbeaten in three games in all competitions since coming back from the international break. Or it could be the fact that Man U has been surrounded by drama since the start of the season. Regardless of the reason, I head into this match feeling optimistic about West Ham United’s chances to pull a point and maybe even 3 at London Stadium.

Of course, it would be the West Ham way to come out Saturday and have it all fall apart in another sound defeat to a perennial Top 4 Club. But I am not going to think that way. Instead, I choose to think that Pellegrini has hit on something that is working in midfield. Arnautovic will be back to lead the strike force and cause problems for Manchester United. And I believe the supporters will be in full voice despite the earlier kick-off time, driving the club to a fast start. They hold on from there; it’s a big 2-1 victory for the Hammers.
