West Ham’s three big midfield signings must step up against Everton
West Ham players will return from the international break hopefully rested and rejuvenated. They need big performances from 3 of their big midfield summer signings this weekend.
To say that West Ham’s season has been a disappointment so far would be an understatement. 100m of investment over the summer has not reaped rewards and apart from Fabianski they have disappointed so far. Especially in midfield.
With the Hammers looking both leaky and devoid of ideas, linking the back and the front needs to improve. For that Wilshere must step up as the only ever present in the centre of the side. When we finally get forward, Anderson must show that he can replicate the performance he put in against Arsenal, and that he is worth being our record signing. And finally, I would like to see Yarmolenko actually given a start, and we need him to fire as well.

Everton have so far been patchy in the Premier League, but have remained unbeaten with 1 win and 3 draws. Whilst they have looked solid going forward, regular leakiness has hampered any dreams new manager Silva had of a perfect start to the season. The fans have not been short of entertainment so far, with 3 red cards shown in their four matches as well.
If these three can actually perform to the top of their ability we can really put pressure on Everton. We’ve been ahead in two of the games so far, and we must begin to convert these. The quality that the three big signings, Wilshere, Yarmolenko and Anderson, would bring could help us actually hold on to the ball, hopefully taking pressure off the defence.
The two attacking midfielders also need to support Arnautovic. The Austrian is a top Premier League player, but we are not getting nearly enough players around him. How can we expect to score on a regular basis with only one player getting in dangerous areas? Yarmolenko scored for Ukraine yesterday, albeit from the penalty spot, but I would like to get him on the pitch. It’s time for the signings to repay the faith Pellegrini and the club put in them over the summer.
