West Ham have released an open letter in which E20, the group who manage the London Stadium, are accused of ignoring expert advice. This is just further proof the stadium should move into ownership of the club.
The new stadium is a major sore spot for most Hammers fans, and the management of E20 is contributing to that. Whilst most in Claret and Blue understand the stadium is part of becoming a more successful club, West Ham do not own the stadium, and as such getting things changed takes time and money that the average person just can’t understand.
Ever since the move there have been conflicts over policing, wifi, seating, when the season starts…it’s crazy to think this wasn’t worked out. However the open letter published on the official site shows that the board, for all their faults, are trying to get things done. But, with an obstructive management company in charge, things are taking too long.

Leap of Faith
The issue with the stadium is that the Olympic committee want to make sure that it is still Athletics ready, and I understand that. With a lot of money invested into the area for that purpose they have a right to want it still useable for events. But they have to face the facts. Every home match of Premier League football is almost guaranteed to sell out. Apart from the Olympics, and maybe commonwealth games, no athletics event will get the same attendance at the same occurrence rate.
As such making decisions that benefit Athletics over football at every turn doesn’t make sense. And this rubbish abut the covering is proof they like being obstructionist. Why does it matter, as a track covering, that it is West Ham coloured? There would be no athletics happening with this covering, just the football.
The Hammers must move to own the stadium, with contractual agreements to be able to host summer athletic events, so the stadium’s primary use can actually be improved. Better seating closer to the pitch. Food that is in keeping with the sport and all the minor changes that would benefit a matchday event.
I know that the London Stadium was built for the Olympics, and athletics must be part of its future. However to deny that football has a bigger pull and could provide more for the future, without costing London a lot of money. The deal that was struck has been shown to be a poor one for all, and there is certainly more to be gained from people admitting previous errors.
