Grading West Ham’s Transfer Window
Anderson, 36m
Risk Factor: A-
Whilst rival fans have been pointing out Anderson’s lack of numbers in the stats at the pointy end of things, he does have raw ability. His talent on the ball is unquestioned, and if the Hammers can get the men in the middle finishing what Anderson can deliver, it will suddenly become easy for the Brazilian rack up numbers in both goals and assists. His link up play with both Arnautovic and Masuaku in pre-season was great, and that will continue.

Value for Money: B
He doesn’t have too much in the way of international pedigree, and he’s going to end up costing the club over 40m so on the front of it it doesn’t look like great value at all. However his raw ability, and the fact that Pellegrini wanted him proves to be this was a great signing. West Ham were originally quoted 50m for the player, so we really could see this being great value going forward.
Squad Improvement: A
Does he become our first choice winger? Yes. Is he miles better than anything else we have? Yes. Is he a superstar? Not yet. The Hammers have signed a big player who is going to improve the team and be one of the first names on the teamsheet. Definitely a huge plus for the club and how we want to play going forward.
Overall Grade: A-
West Ham have spent a lot of money on this man, and he needs to perform. However I do think he will turn out to be an incredibly important man for the Hammers this season. This could blow up in their face, but I don’t think that will happen. Pre-season and training reports point to this being a very good signing for the Hammers.
