Grading West Ham’s Transfer Window
Carlos Sanchez, 3m
Risk Factor: B
Originally meant to be a single year loan, Sanchez signed on deadline day on a two year deal. in his early 30’s he isn’t one for the future and this will be his only contract with the Hammers. Signed as a backup for the rest of the central midfield, there’s not too much risk because we don’t need him to play week in week out. However I would have liked a better central midfield.

Value for Money: B
Although there doesn’t seem to be an official fee floating around there was indication it was a small fee by all accounts. The Hammers have got a backup player for a low fee and whilst he isn’t groundbreaking it certainly doesn’t break the bank in any regard.
Squad Improvement: C-
He really doesn’t add much to the squad, except for depth. I think he is barely a step up on some of the young players we have around but it’s an area of the pitch that you can’t afford to have players playing out of position. A winger or full back will feel very out of place in the middle of the park so this does allow the Hammers to maintain a consistent approach elsewhere.
Overall Grade: C+
Not exciting, but someone that will help the Hammers in times of fixture congestion or an injury crisis. Without being horrible I hope that we don’t see much of the Colombian in the Premier League, because if he does play a lot it means that we have had issues with people in the middle and things are going wrong.
