West Ham chasing multiple Portuguese targets
This has already been an exciting window for West Ham, with multiple big signings. Could this last week top it all off?
West Ham have had an incredible transfer window, there’s no disputing that. However it would be foolish to suggest it is complete. With the departure of Kouyate, the Hammers have some extra cash to spend, and there are certainly some players that have caught the clubs’ eye.
ExWhuEmployee has stated that the club has a delegation in Portugal, looking to build long term relationships with multiple clubs in the country. Despite the issue with Sporting last season, it looks as though other clubs have not been put off. Benfica and Porto are two main clubs that the Hammers want to have significant dealings with, this season and in the future.

Benfica and Porto signings
In regards to this season, the Hammers are looking to sign one player from Benfica and are interested in two from Porto. The Benfica player is young Portuguese attacker/midfielder Joao Felix. Felix is capable of playing wide or in the middle, and has scored 2 goals in 5 games for the Portguese U21 side, and is highly rated by many in the national setup. This is likely to be a player for the future, but an exiting one for sure.
The two players that may go straight into the first team (if signed) would be those from Porto. Moussa Marega, the Mali striker, is one of the main attractions for Pellegrini and his team. He would add a pacey and powerful dynamic to the side, increasing the number of options the side has up front. He would certainly add an extra dimension on Carroll, and compliment Chicharito in attack as well.
The other player who I haven’t heard mentioned before is Hector Herrera. Last season he picked up 3 goals and 5 assists, alongside 7 yellow cards. The definition of box to box player, he is involved all across the pitch. He would be a wonderful upgrade on Kouyate, with top technical ability and 70 international caps for Mexico.
If the team in Portgual can get a deal done for Herrera and Felix done, I would be very happy with this window. Marega is a decent player but not necessary for me, and we have holes elsewhere that need to be filled. What do you think the Hammers should focus on in the last week?
