West Ham have made a lot of exciting signings this summer, and we’re looking forward to the season ahead. But how will the attack lineup throughout the season?

With a number of big signings, West Ham’s attack is likely to be very different from previous seasons. Fans are hoping gone are the days of the isolated striker, and now we’ll have a a fluid formation supporting the men going forward. But how will they line up?

With the Hammers injury record as well, it’s worth having a look at the different ways they could lineup throughout the season. I mean who wouldn’t love to see a return of the big man little man combination up front?

Strikers: Arnautovic & Chicharito               Wingers: Anderson & Yarmolenko

With the signings of Anderson and Yarmolenko, there’s no doubt they are the first choice wingers if fit. They are direct players capable of quality all around and will definitely cause problems for fullbacks up and down the division. But how would the guys in the middle sort out?

Well quite simply, our best goalscorer is Chicharito. He is a born finisher and whilst he doesn’t always thrive as a lone striker his work-rate and finishing ability is not in question. The way he finds space and drags defenders is almost second to none. And in Arnautovic he would have the perfect player in support.

Putting Arnautovic in a roving role in the middle would allow him to do everything he can; burst past defenders to receive through balls, take balls into feet and attack the centrebacks and also use Chicharito as a dummy to find his own space in the box.

This formation in attack would allow the Hammers to bring as many goal threats as the can into the attack, and it does allow the fluid attack that Pellegrini loves to bring. Can the Irons keep it tight enough at the back to support this big an attack? Or will another midfielder be needed?
