West Ham are reportedly close to selling Kouyate and Antonio. Could Crystal Palace be the destination for both?

It’s almost time for kick off in the Premier League which means the excitement of the final parts of the transfer window and the build up to the first match are happening all at once. With West Ham having made a number of big signings, when will the first big names leave?

Obviously we want to keep the squad as strong as possible, but it’s important to get rid of the deadwood. That being said, it’s clear we won’t make back all the money we have spent/want to spend, because the players we want to sell are not the same calibre. However it seems Crystal Palace want to use our castoffs to their advantage.

Double Deal?

It’s been widely known for a while now that Antonio and Kouyate have been low on Pellegrini’s priority list, with others impressing in pre-season and being a close fit to the Chilean’s plans. However they are both useful players, with their physicality and pace being key assets in the Premier League.

To get both players across the line I would imagine a deal of around 25m would be needed, especially in this era of crazy prices. Palace are not very flush with cash however, and they are holding out for a better deal. But they may have to move quickly.

The Hammers are reportedly trying to use Kouyate as a makeweight as part of a deal with Porto, as seemingly confirmed by ExWhuEmployee on twitter early this morning. This could be to the board’s liking as it would keep the squad the same size without the need for rushing elsewhere.

It remains to be seen where the Hammers are going to end up with these deals, because whilst Kouyate is considered no longer needed, Antonio is useful. His pace and direct running can unsettle a defence and may be desirable if the Hammers are in a stalemate throughout the season, or have injuries to cover.

Either way, Palace seem the most likely club to pick these guys up out of the Premier League clubs. Would you rather seem them go abroad so there’s no chance of being haunted by an ex player? Or do you want to keep them close as a reminder of the progress we want to make? Let us know below!
