West Ham are seeking a loan deal for a a striker to wind up this transfer window. Should they be looking at Liverpool for their answer?

It’s been a busy summer for West Ham so far, and the fans are getting excited. For a long while the Hammers have been perceived under-spenders in the Premier League with no real plan in the window. Now those things have been put right, the fans are excited.

However with Chicharito still undecided on his future, Hugill set to leave on loan and Carroll always injured the Hammers need more attacking options. With most of the transfer kitty used up, a loan move is the most obvious option and Liverpool have 3 potential targets they could snap up.

Despite the goal scoring exploits of Salah and being lead by Firmino, Liverpool didn’t do particularly well in depth last season. Origi was sent out on loan to Wolfsburg, whilst Ings and Solanke managed 2 Premier League goals between them. Not exactly prolific. With pre-season underway, social media reaction suggests they are struggling to impress again.

The Three Options

Danny Ings, who was signed from Burnley, was never one I put down to succeed at Liverpool. He’s a hard working striker, but that doesn’t cut it at Liverpool. The type of goal he was getting at Burnley was not the type he was going to be offered, and adding his injury worries into the mix only stalled any transition he was making. He may be the most available of the three, but I wouldn’t be too interested in taking him.

Origi may also find that he has used up his time at Anfield. At 23 it is likely that Klopp will not wait too much longer for him to develop into the player his potential promised, but he could still be useful for the Hammers. Having a pacey striker as a backup to Arnautovic (and potentially Chicharito) will help the side as they look to push up the table. Arguably the best immediate option of the three, however Liverpool may be looking to sell rather than loan.

Solanke is the final option, and one that could be interesting. If the Hammers decided to loan the player, with an option to buy at the end, it could prove a very shrewd deal. The former Chelsea man has struggled for gametime at Liverpool but has shown a lot of promise at U21 international level and previously at Chelsea. But whilst Liverpool might not use him this season, they are unlikely to want to sell him permanently already. A loan with an option to buy might tempt the Reds, and leave us with a talented player moving forwards.
