Where does Marko Arnautović fit into West Hams side?
What a time to be alive! The Hammers are currently racking up a transfer window like we haven’t seen in years but that only makes us ask the question, where does Marko Arnautović fit into West Hams side?
Our newest bad boy at West Ham will most likely be one of the first names on the team sheet but where will he play? After scoring a decent number of goals last season will he be back in the striking role?
The popular options are either back on the wing or up front. Obviously, that depends on what formation Manuel Pellegrini throws out there. Most recently he’s ran a 4-1-4-1 formation, but that was in the Chinese Super League. More noticeably at City and Real he ran a 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2.

Good problems to have
With that in mind, I have a lot of questions of my own? Does Arni play upfront? Does he play the wing? Or does he play in a weird rendition of the number 10 role behind Chicha? Are we still going to be the all blonde force? (Insert laughter here)
Personally I love Chicharito and I’m hoping he gets a fair run upfront, which then puts Arnautović either to his left on the wing or right behind him in the middle.
My opinion is this, we put him behind Chicha in a weird 10 role but making the formation 4-4-2. Now before you make you’re comments let the stats speak for themselves. Last year in the EPL Arnautović scored 10 goals with 6 assists from the front middle or attacking midfield positions and only an astonishingly low 1 goal in 11 matches playing on the left or right of the team.

But, like I said in the intro what a time to be alive! The attack force of Arnautović, Yarmolenko, Chicharito, Wilshere (also Lanzini eventually) and possibly Anderson still to sign is mouth watering. Putting Arni upfront with or behind Chicha getting setup by this new and improved squad can only boost his numbers and of course West Ham United’s results. What wonderful problems to have ey? As always, Come on you Irons!
