West Ham Transfer News: Jack Wilshere set to join for free
Jack Wilshere is set to complete a free transfer to West Ham. The former Arsenal midfielder will reportedly complete his medical today and will be announced shortly.
Jack Wilshere announced at the start of the summer that he would be leaving Arsenal, and since then West Ham have been one of the favourites for his signature. His desire to stay in London was well known, and he has always had a soft spot for the Hammers. Add that to the fact the Irons want to add quality, and a move seemed pretty obvious.

Despite his quality, Wilshere is mostly thought of in the context of his injuries, which is a massive shame. He has constantly worked hard to get himself on the pitch, and given nothing but 100% when there. If he continues to do that in East London then the fans will warm to him quickly.
Details and Dates
Quite simply I think a deal for the Englishman could be completed in the next 24 hours. Various ITK’s have confirmed his medical with the club and have even leaked that the club could be preparing a ‘Its coming home’ video for his announcement. I do hope it doesn’t kill the meme for me, because I love them.
The rumour is, and this one was important for me, that Wilshere will be on a lower wage than most expected, with the rest made up by appearance and performance bonuses. Given his injury record this is prudent from the club, and something more clubs should try with injury prone players. I hope it’s irrelevant, and that he is consistently in the team, but it’s a solid insurance policy for the club.

The deal makes financial and footballing sense for all parties, and I think the fans should be happy. Some will obviously worry that we’re repeating the Andy Carroll issue again, but given the fact Wilshere played nearly 3000 minutes for Arsenal last season I think he could be in a better place now than before. He could really add some energy and quality into the midfield at the London Stadium.
