West Ham have active bids on transfer deadline day
West Ham have only made one transfer move so far this window. However club sources are certain there are active bids still without resolution.
The West Ham faithful have let it be known that they are not happy with the current state of affairs regarding transfers. It says a lot that this site’s most retweeted tweet is one poking fun at the board’s transfer acumen. But there is still some hope for action.
According to various sources, and most importantly ExWhuEmployee, there are bids on the table. The club are supposedly interested in at least three or four separate deals and are hopeful of getting something across the line on deadline day.

Midfielders
There are three possible midfield additions for west Ham this transfer window. Firstly on the most possible is Swansea’s Ki Sung-Yong. This wouldn’t be any outlay for us, but would be part of a swap deal that would see the Irons receive cash as well as Ki in return for Ayew moving the other way. Ki is a strong defensive midfielder, and his discipline could well help us out.
Second is the signing of Belgian youngster Dendonker. This has been a bit draw out but it is one that some people in the club are very keen on making happen. The youngster wants the move to happen, and I think it would be a very promising move for all involved.
One that we haven’t reported on here is the move for Fulham’s Cairney. I thought the club would have been put off by a potential 40m price tag but have reportedly upped their 18m bid for the dynamic midfielder. I can’t realistically see a deal going ahead because the two clubs seem very far apart on their valuations.
Strikers
There are two deals trying to be struck for strikers, one from the Premier League and one from Russia. The Russian captain Smolov would be the cheapest deal, but due to Russian players having a history of struggling in the Premier League the club aren’t too keep on a permanent deal straight up. As such a loan with an option to buy is something the club want to happen.

The club have also reportedly put a bid in for Leicester’s Slimani. This would give Moyes the big centre forward that he wants and potentially see a repeated system for a few games. I don’t know much about this bid, but I do genuinely hope it happens. I think Slimani would benefit from our style of play, rather than Leicester’s fast counter attacking style.
