West Ham injury watch: Collins and Antonio unlikely to return v Spurs
West Ham fans will know the club has an issue with injuries. Whilst there aren’t too many big ones at the moment, a couple of niggles are around.
If you’ve supported West Ham for any length of time, you’ll know we have an issue with injuries. Long term, short term, niggles, ruptures…we have it all. The club are currently third in the table for injuries according to physioroom. So what’s new?
Jose Fonte are Edimilson Fernandes are longer term absentees. They’ve both had surgery and as such they need recuperation time. Sam Byram is nearly back to fitness after a long time out as well. However the Hammers have 4 new and smaller injuries to consider ahead of Spurs and Shrewsbury.
Reece Oxford
He has only just returned to the club, but he does reportedly have a slight niggle. ExWhuEmployee confirmed as much on his radio show, but it’s not the end of the world. With the player only just back at the club, he was unlikely to be involved against Spurs.

Given his youth, the close proximity of the games and the quality of the opposition, expect to see Oxford at the weekend if fit. He is a great talent, and will hopefully be a part of the club for years to come.
James Collins
Our throwback to old fashioned centrebacks, Collins’ body isn’t helping him out anymore. He seems to pick up niggles all the time, but he is nearly back from the muscle injury that has kept him out. Highly unlikely to feature against Spurs unless Moyes is desperate, but will be in contention for either the weekend or the Premier League match against Huddersfield.
Michail Antonio
If you wanted an example of how players can run themselves into the ground, Antonio is it. The man never stops running and always puts extra yards in when he can. As such little injuries will always hurt Antonio unless he is rested.
He has missed the last couple of games with a groin strain, and will not make the starting XI against Spurs. There could be a substitute appearance from him, however he is likely to be out given the importance of the January ahead.

Diafra Sakho
So, just as he’s linked with a move away, he’s apparently injured. Forgive my cynicism, but I don’t think he’s actually got an injury. Every time a transfer window comes around he’s mysteriously unavailable. The sooner he’s gone from my club the better in my opinion.
