More from Green Street Hammers - West Ham

The Transfer Window is all important

It’s January, and that means Transfer Window. For the Hammers it could mean the difference between struggling close to the relegation zone all season or pushing up the table to mid-table security in the next month or so.

For West Ham getting players in means letting players go. Whilst this isn’t the end of the world given some of the performances, the board must be careful. The fans will not accept players leaving without replacements, and the replacements can’t be rushed. Snodgrass last January springs to mind, because he didn’t fit the side. He’s doing well at Villa, but he wasn’t for us.

Looking at the side that played West Brom, we need three players to improve the side. A central defender, because Reid has not been himself this season. Although the retrieval of Oxford from Monchengladbach may solve that if Moyes is happy with him. The other two is a central midfielder, and potentially another striker.

For me the main player is a central midfielder, because our current options are poor. Then an additional defender, and we have been linked with Mawson of Swansea. A striker would be a nice addition, but if we don’t get a central midfielder soon we will struggle. Noble is playing well but he can’t do it all on his own, and he needs a dynamic partner.
