Chiekou Kouyate
Whilst he isn’t the best technical midfielder we have, his physicality and dynamism really helps throughout the side. He can move the ball quickly forward and is as useful on the counter attack as he is in defence.
The Senegalese international wasn’t very good on Monday, but fans know he can perform. He could have had a couple of goals in the first half and he does need to work on the sharp end of his game because there have been a number of times he has wasted a good shooting chance or over hit a pass. When he fine tunes that he is a perfect box to box midfielder.
Pedro Obiang
Aside from the goal, Obiang was fairly anonymous on Monday. That being said, I don’t want my holding midfielder to be mentioned too often. He didn’t give the ball away and didn’t miss his tackles. In my opinion he is our best central midfielder.
The only problem with Obiang playing is that he keeps Rice out the side. I like Rice and I think he has a great future ahead of him, for club and country. I don’t think playing them both works because they are not physical enough as a pairing, but Rice should now be above Noble in the pecking order.
