West Ham’s next three matches will be important in determining how the season is going to turn.

The season has not started off well at all but there is still time to change the momentum from the season up until this point. Three big matches are coming up before the home match against Spurs. As such it’s a big issue to get things right for West Ham in the coming weeks.

Bilic needs to push things on. He got a number of good signings that he wanted over the summer, and needs to perform. Or these three matches will be the last ones he is in charge for.

Huddersfield – September 11th

More from Green Street Hammers - West Ham

West Ham need to beat Huddersfield.

Yes they are currently third in the table and flying but that doesn’t mean a whole ton.  They’ve only played a few matches so far this season and they’re still excited to be up with the big fish in the Premier League.  The Irons would do well to knock them down a little.

A physical and fast game of old fashioned Premier League football will suit West Ham’s generally stronger and more experienced team. Aaron Mooy is a technically good player, but he lacks pace. He does very well when afforded any space but when made to chase the game he’s not as effective at all.

If the game is approached with the same intensity as the second half against Southampton was then the Hammers have a chance. West Ham should aim to win this match 3-0 or 3-1 with despite Arnautovic not being back, hopefully with Hernandez getting a goal or two.

West Brom – September 16th.

West Brom are one of the teams that West Ham are competing with in the middle of the pack this season.

Away at the Hawthorns isn’t a match that any club in the Premier League looks forward to. Especially against the rough physical presence that West Brom bring to every match they play. West Brom have strengthened a lot this summer and look to be a different side than last season. They did well keeping Jonny Evans out of Manchester City’s grasp and will be happy with the way they’ve played so far this season.

If West Ham can draw this match that would be a good result for them.  Scratching a win would be even better but a 1-1 draw would be pretty much perfect. There will not be too many sides heading to West Brom and taking away three points this season.

Bolton – September 19th

This will be one of the most important matches because the cups are as usual the best places for West Ham to target silverware this season. The FA Cup won’t kick off for the Hammers until January so this is an important step. Bolton will also be looking for confidence due to struggles in the Championship.

Too often pundits and critics alike put the importance of cups far too low down the list of goals for a football club.  This match can help build cohesiveness, confidence and team spirit. Bolton’s side is fairly low on quality, and will be even more so for this match as Cullen and Burke will be unable to play against their parent club,

Next: Can Hammers still create chances without Lanzini?

West Ham can use this match as a launchpad for the rest of the campaign by thumping Bolton thoroughly. 3-0 should be an expectation for this sort of match. A good performance and an introduction of some youngsters would be a welcome bonus.
