Fans react as West Ham draw Bolton at home in the Carabao Cup 3rd round
West Ham have drawn Bolton at home in the next round of the Carabao Cup.
Despite the early hour of the draw in the UK, many fans stayed up to see the draw. However, it wasn’t streamed. Which was annoying, and raises issues of it potentially being fixed, but it worked out ok for West Ham.
They will take on Bolton at the London Stadium in mid September. Given the tough draws the Hammers have received in previous years, this one seems like a good one. However it isn’t a gimme by any means and I have no doubt we’ll make it hard for ourselves.
Fans React
Now obviously the reaction wasn’t as big as it would have been if the draw had actually been at a reasonable time for anyone in the UK. However there seemed to be a few Hammers fans on twitter, and they all seemed pretty pleased, once the draw actually got underway that is.

In all honesty, this should be a simple draw for the Hammers. They have a much better squad than their opponents, who are struggling in the Championship. And, as the last tweet points out, they will be missing two key players. Josh Cullen and Reece Burke are currently on loan from West Ham at Bolton, and have been key players so far.
Time for a Cup run?
It’s been a while since the Hammers looked like threatening a cup win. A semi-final thrashing at the hands of Manchester City is the closest the Hammers have been in recent years, even though they did threaten to get past Man Utd in the 6th round of the FA Cup at Old Trafford in Bilic’s first season.
As such it would be great to see the Hammers push on again, because there has been a lot spent. And Bilic would love a major trophy, as it would relieve any pressure on him for the forseeable future.
