West Ham have three high profile players out on loan this season.

Three West Ham prospects are out on loan this season. It’s still early in the season, and early in their careers, but it’s always promising to see loan players get their footing in a professional team and progress their skills.

Josh Cullen and Reece Burke are on loan at Championship side Bolton, whilst Reece Oxford has made the move over to the Bundesliga with Borussia Monchengladbach. The German league started this week, whilst the Championship is already four games in.

Josh Cullen

Many fans were hoping Cullen would step into the West Ham midfield as Rice has done in the previous games, but Bilic felt going out on loan would be the best course of action in order to improve the young midfielder’s skills. If gametime was an issue, it isn’t anymore.

In the past week Cullen has played all 90 minutes in 3 Championship games for Bolton. Whilst the results weren’t spectacular, two draws and a loss, they show promising signs for a team expected to struggle. The mere fact he has played 90 minutes in all of these is a good sign. Central Midfield isn’t a role you give to someone you don’t trust.

He hasn’t been involved creatively as of yet, but he’s holding the midfield well. There has been a lot of praise from Bolton fans so far as well:

Which takes us nicely on to our next loanee…
