West Ham’s loan players have been settling in to their new teams.

Some fans are for laon moves, others think we do too many. Whatever the opinion, West Ham have taken steps to loan a few youngsters out this summer. Here we’re going to focus on the three big names to be loaned out, Reece Burke, Reece Oxford and Josh Cullen.

All of different ages and stages in their careers, the loan moves represent different things. But they will all want as much gametime as possible, with sitting on the bench the biggest failure. How have they done so far?

More from Green Street Hammers - West Ham

Reece Oxford

Making the biggest move out of the three, Oxford has gone to Germany! Intent on learning new skills to hone his game, the youngster has made the mature decision to go full on and take in a new culture as well as a new club.

So far he’s only had pre-season games, but he’s been heavily involved so far. He’s picked up his first goal for the club, and seems to be fitting right in. Whilst there still seems to be a long way to go for his German skills, football is a language he’s fluent in. Getting into the team should be fine for the youngster who has clauses in his arrangement.

The Bundesliga doesn’t start until next week, so there won’t be too much to report on Oxford’s progress until then. But given the youngster’s talent and potential, I think it could be an exciting year for the young defender.

Josh Cullen

The youngster was seemingly on the verge of playing a part in the West Ham first team squad, but has been moved out on loan to Bolton for the season. Whilst it should see him play more, I am disappointed it will not be in Claret and Blue.

He has the makings of a very well rounded footballer, and Bolton will benefit from his presence. However he was unable to stop his side falling to a 3-2 home defeat to Leeds. The youngster started in the middle, but was taken off as the game progressed.

Having been such a success at Bradford last season, I have no doubt Cullen will do it again. It will take time for him to impress himself onto the team, but he will get to that point. And there will be few better midfielders in the Championship.

Reece Burke

Burke has already played twice for his new club Bolton, experiencing the highs of a cup win but also an opening day defeat.

He was brought on for his debut in the league opener against Leeds and steadied the ship, but being a centreback there wasn’t too much he could do in regards to grabbing a goal. However he started in the away match vs Crewe, helping his side to a 2-1 win.

With him and Cullen at the same club, it could be a nice look at the future for West Ham fans. Could this be a partnership in the Premier League next season? Or will it be anther case of loaned out players never making the grade?
