If you’ve been reading this site most of the year and taken notice of the journalists names, you know this one in particular has been livid at the quality of play in the West Ham midfield.

West Ham MUST improve their midfield play and one way they can do that is by signing Chelsea youth legend Nathaniel Chalobah.

Nathaniel Chalobah has played nearly 100 matches at the youth level for England and is one of Gareth Southgate’s favorite players.  In the most Chelsea FC thing of all time it is perhaps likely that Chalobah will start earning significant minutes for his country under Southgate before he earns them playing for Chelsea.  Knowing that the player has decided to leave the Stamford Bridge club in search of first team football.

Building For Future

Apparently Watford are leading the race for the midfielder with a 5 million pound bid.  But there’s no reason why the Hammers’ can’t take the lead.  The player would love to stay in London and West Ham can easily afford him.

A key member of the team is the box to box/defensive midfielder and Chalobah could very well turn into that player plus more for West Ham.  He honestly has the potential to turn into the next Michael Carrick if Michael Carrick had a shred of athleticism or creativity.

West Ham need to be making smarter transfer market moves.  Their performance so far this summer has simply not been good enough.  Moves like this one are available in the market and West Ham need to pounce on them.  There is a very good chance that if West Ham do not become more diligent readers and movers in the transfer market that they get relegated next season.
