Pablo Zabaleta

More from Analysis

The amazing Argentine was a wonderful free addition to the squad.  A player blessed with unbelievable intelligence and grit he will add a lot to the team even if he is lacking physically.  He can no longer play as a complete wing-back for the length of a season but as a regular full back he will be fine.  He can still overlap on the wing when necessary and his final delivery is second to none.  Zabaleta is a move (not to toot my own horn) that I suggested West Ham MUST sign so it’s wonderful to see that they have.  He’s great player and one whom the entire rest of the West Ham team will benefit from having around.

Aaron Cresswell

One of the few players in West Ham’s team to not make an utter fool out of himself during the course of this season Cresswell should of course be a starting member of the eleven next season.  He’s a good professional and has the sort of athleticism necessary to keep up with wingers and wing backs in the Premier League.  He can offer an outlet as an overlapping player or simply as a retreating option and is good enough on the ball that doesn’t leave West Ham in bits.  Cresswell should honestly have been given an extended contract with a pay rise for his handling of the season.  Future captain.
