West Ham United has one of the most important academies in England Football.

I picked four players who have begun their career in East-London, and all of them had a great history in another premier league club.

Unfortunately for us, we know that most players that have a great ambition and begin their career in East-London, eventually will leave the Hammers for the ambitious, bigger England clubs. It is sad, but there’s nothing we can do. Unless West Ham becomes the new Leicester, but even they had to sell some players in the last summer window. It’s hard to hold on.

Despite the history about if the player was “traitor” or Judas; here is my top four list.

Michael Carrick

I think that most people know that the 35 year old begun its career at the Hammers. His debut was in 1998; however, he continued to play at the Boleyn Ground until 2004.

According to SoccerBase, Carrick made more than 150 League appearance, scored six goals. However, we know what happens with our most talent player, they move to another clubs.

Nevertheless, in 2004, he moved to our rival Londoner club Tottenham for £2.75 million. In addition, in 2006, he got a transfer to Manchester United with the ambitious to play in one of the most important clubs in England, where he still plays until now. This was a tiny fee for a player who had great importance to the side he was in.

John Terry

One of the greatest Chelsea players of all time had begun he career in East-London, and he was recently linked to move to West Ham after leaving the Premier League Champions. However, this is almost impossible to realize, we know that he is a talented player.

Terry is a great centre-back who won everything playing at Chelsea, including Europa League and Champions League. Nevertheless, many people had forgotten that he started his career at West Ham academy. However, he moves to Chelsea in 1995, at 14 years old.

Unfortunately for us, we lost a great defender, but at this time, many cases like that happen. But, who know if he had stayed when he was younger, he could have been one of the greatest players that ever have seen.

Joe Cole

A magical midfielder who had a great time in Chelsea until 2010, was one of the greatest players who begun at West Ham Academy. His skills and great vision had impressive since his first professional match in 1998 until 2003. At the same time, his return in 2014 was very forgettable.

According to SoccerBase, he had 157 appearance and 15 goals. He is from one of the most talented teams at the last decades. He played beside Frank Lampard and Michael Carrick. But, financial issues was one of a lot of problems that led to Cole’s leaving the Hammers.

Cole recently, conceived an interview to West Ham Website and said that he would have played at London Stadium. It’s certain that he has a passion for the club. Nevertheless, it could be very hard to see his return to East-London because he is not the same player nowadays, we always should be grateful for what he did for the Hammers.

Frank Lampard

This is a curious case that one player who had begun his career in one club but shined in the rival. Frank Lampard is one of the most important players in Chelsea history. If you ask for every blues fans, they will say to you that he is magical, brilliant and other adjectives for describing him.

Lampard played in East-London until 2011 with 187 appearances and 39 goals. However, the legend midfielder decided to leave after his uncle Harry Redknapp and father left the club.
