Young Players to sign?

With goalkeepers, as mentioned before, it’s hard to pick them early. There have been some that are very obviously good and they get snatched up by the big teams, and there have been those that seem good that then fail to carry on the same trajectory.

But it’s a good shout to try and get a player that’s already shown that he can make it in the league. It’s even nicer when he’s been a shining star in a side that’s just got relegated, therefore making his necessary transfer fee drop. That’s why I’d go for Jordan Pickford.

At 23 he is still a young player, especially for a goalkeeper. He has done exceptionally well marshaling a defence that at times resembles a sieve. His shot stopping abilities have been on constant show and he appears to be improving.

There have been reports that Sunderland have tried to put a 30m price tag on the youngster. That seems to be a bit of bluster above anything else, because they need cash to secure their position. Their squad needs improvements and without the guaranteed payments it’s hard to do that. I expect him to move this summer and for far less than 30m. West Ham should definitely put in an enquiry.
