Michy Batshuayi

If reports are to believed, Batshuayi is the club’s top target. After just missing out on him last summer, the club are determined to make amends this year. If the board get their way, he will be in Claret and Blue by the end of the summer.

However it no longer seems as simple as it was. Before he was just a bit part player for Chelsea, so tempting him away seemed pretty simple. However since he has scored the ‘title winning’ goal for Chelsea and in the subsequent game, he might think it’s all been worth it.

When a player is on a high like Michy is now, tempting him away is tough. Or it may give the board a bit of leverage. If that’s all the player can achieve at Chelsea, is it time to look elsewhere? I can’t imagine Conte being happy if Batshuayi is the first choice striker. Even if Costa leaves they will spend big to replace him.

Whatever the situation, Batshuayi is the main target. Whether or not the Hammers will get him is another matter. But he is far more realistic a target than others that have been thrown around before. Getting players in is the key, because we can’t have a transfer window like the last one.
