Dribbling Past A Man

In my opinion, Manuel Lanzini is one of the best dribblers in the Premier League. He has wonderful close control and a lot of tricks up his sleeve. But for me one of the best attributes he has is that he doesn’t dribble for the sake of it. His passing percentages tell you he does not like to waste the ball.

As such he comes up trumps against in number of successful take ons per game when compared to Payet, and in the percentage of takeons in which e was successful. To some this may be a surprise, especially when Payet was capable of magic as well.

Lanzini’s pace is probably a big factor here, because he can hit top speed in almost no time at all, and that is a huge weapon against usually larger defenders. Plus, when you can pull off the sort of turns we saw against Swansea and the rabona against Everton, how do defenders know which way you are going to go?

So it’s Lanzini 1 – 1 Payet. Who will win when it comes to taking shots?
