West Ham Should Continue Chasing Malcuit
West Ham need a right back and Kevin Malcuit perfectly fits their needs.
West Ham really need to pursue this with a third offer. St. Etienne have been very impressive this season in not only Ligue 1 but also the Europa League. They are a very talented team and picking a few of their players is something that West Ham should be trying to do.
One of if not the biggest need in the squad right now is a right back. I have even written on the subject what feels like a sickening amount of times this week. But the truth is that the Hammers simply don’t have a good enough option and playing players out of position is not sustainable. If they can sign Malcuit they will be signing a player who at 25 can stay with the team for a very long and succesfull time in East London.

Malcuit has so far this season had unbelievable statistics. He has made no defensive errors, 49 interceptions and 38 tackles. Imagine the difference that would be made to the West Ham team if they knew that their right flank was actually protected. One of the biggest issues with the defense this season has been the teams unbelievable ability to break down along the right. Time and time again left sided wingers have attacked down the right and normally get the better of their Hammer counterpart.
Michael Antonio should be applauded for his time spent at the position. He has been a true soldier and everybody should be happy with him. Now though it is time to bring in a specialist. A player who has spent the majority of his career at the position and knows the ins and outs of it. Besides being an excellent defender Malcuit has also created 10 chances in 17 matches from the right back position. This displays an ability to possibly move toward the wing back role as well as right back. With the evolution of English football perhaps moving towards three at the back as West Ham have even experimented with on several occasions it could be mightily useful to have a player of Malcuit’s ability in the squad.

Malcuit would be a remarkable signing for West Ham if they can pull it off.
