Set Piece discipline

Set pieces are always important against a Tony Pulis side, in attack and defence.

More from Green Street Hammers - West Ham

In attack they practice them religiously, and therefore your defence can not afford to be slapdash. Every defender must know who is marking who and it is so very important to make sure Andy Carroll is not bogged down by attackers so he can get a clear run at the ball if possible.

They will have a multitude of routines and West Ham must not get caught out. Given that both teams are good aerially i can imagine Pulis will be looking at other ways to work them. Do not be surprised if they pull out a faked cross followed by a sneaky low ball to a late runner. West Brom will not want the home side to think they have all the answers.

And in defence it is important as well. Because of the physical nature of these matches there will be quite a few fouls. As such any attacking freekicks need to be used well and not wasted. Any chance for a goal against an organised defence needs to be maximised.

Which brings us nicely on to…
