Marseille
The return of the prodigal son? A case of homesickness? Or the fact the ex has got a new job and promised to treat you better this time? Either way, the French club are favourites to take Payet away from East London.

Some news reports are going as far to say terms between club and player have already been agreed. If this is the case, would UEFA not be allowed to investigate for tapping up? The point of a contract is that players can’t speak to other clubs without permission. The agent behind Payet is clearly not a fan of the rules as another client of his, Kone at Sunderland, is also in a similar dispute with his club.
West Ham would be better off letting him go to a club like this, as they are unlikely to meet any time soon. Also, if the player leaves to go to a big club then others may feel the action was justified and try themselves. The culture of throwing your contract into disrepute needs to be tackled. The Hammers might find the best way to do that is shove Payet in the reserves for the rest of the season.
At the age Payet is, he is in a hurry to move. With 4 years and a club option left on the contract, the club are not. They must play to the power they have. Player power needs to take a hit.
