Premier League Rival?
This is a worst case scenario for West Ham. Here they have a player who has performed extremely well in the Premier League, saying his family can’t settle in the area and he wants to go home, so if he leaves to stay in the Premier League what do they do?
The most likely candidates are Chelsea and Manchester United. Both teams are rich enough to splash the cash and will benefit from creativity.
Despite Chelsea leading the league they are fairly short on cover. They are definitely benefitting from not having to deal with the arduous Champions League or Europa campaign, because it would only need a few injuries up front to cause a big issue.
Manchester United may seem strange, but Mourinho loves hording talent. He’s very good at dealing with big personalities for a short time and he’d make Payet feel like a star as well. However the reds have other targets and I would be surprised to see Payet make this move. They’re not the favourite destination anyway…
