When league form is faltering, a cup win can really help the fans. Plus if we’ve managed to get any kind of result at the weekend we will be in their heads. And if we haven’t, we can try and push on for silverware regardless.

The league is undoubtedly important, however given our poor start we’re not going to be fighting for the Champions League this year. As such a chance at claiming silverware has to be grabbed at. In all likelihood we will be safe as well, so this would be a great way to start life in the new stadium and push on next year.
It’s a tough match, but you have to beat the best at some point. Plus the likelihood is United will not be taking this too seriously. They will be viewing it as a bonus given their other competitions.
A win here would do us the world of good confidence wise, and it’s not impossible. A midweek win would also cure some of the fatigue before…
