When Gokhan Tore signed in the summer it was a move greeted very warmly by the West Ham fans. There was a history between Bilic and Tore, and therefore he must know what he is capable of. But so far it hasn’t gone right for the Turkish international
Gokhan Tore’s poor form
Since joining he really hasn’t hit the heights promised. In pre-season he looked slow and out of shape, but the fans were willing to give him time to settle into the team and the pace we play. But he just hasn’t improved.
Yes he set up Antonio for the first goal at the Olympic Stadium, but that’s one cross. You certainly don’t sign a player to put in one cross then disappear. In my opinion when we have a full squad he barely makes the registered squad. He certainly wouldn’t appear in the match-day selections. Ayew, Feghouli, Payet, Lanzini and Antonio are all ahead of him, and I’d prefer to see some youngsters.

The Stats
Excluding Payet, Ayew and Feghouli from the comparison, this is what you end up with. (Payet is never going to be dropped and Ayew and Feghouli have barely played). Tore offers the least when going forward in every department. He doesn’t take people on as often, and his pass completion is lowest.

When it comes to shooting he is still to hit the target in the Premier League. West Ham had 18 shots on Saturday and only hit the target twice. It’s clear to me that Tore is not the solution to our goal-scoring issues.
Just looking at him I don’t get a sense of urgency. He might have done well in a league where the pace just isn’t there, but not the Premier League. He can’t cover, he struggles to find any room to make a pass and looks generally out of place.
Yes I’ve seen the youtube videos of him dancing around players in the Turkish league, but that’s hardly a basis for selection in the Premier League. Has anyone seen anything good from him worthy of selection ahead of anyone in the squad? Let alone the starting XI. Please leave your answers below.
