West Ham fans and management are today coming to terms with the fresh injury crisis the club now face. Despite increasing the size of the squad over the summer, Bilic now faces a task to put two fit line-ups out for today and Sunday.

News came out last night that West Ham are now facing injuries on THREE of their new summer signings, after Nordtveit, Feghouli and Ayew were all confirmed to be missing tonights Europa League match.

New Signings Injured

They are all out for various levels of time, and losing any of them would be a blow. However to lose all of them at once is a huge problem for Slaven. The biggest issue is that it seems that the curse of the West Ham record signing has struck again. Andre Ayew, who only played 30 minutes against Chelsea, is out for around 4 months. This comes as a massive blow less than a month after joining the club for a record fee. He is thought to require surgery on a quadriceps strain picked up when sprinting for the ball.

Feghouli picked up a slight strain against Juventus, and at the time the West Ham medical team did not think it would be an issue. However he was left out of the squad for the Chelsea match and it seems that it is more serious. It has not been confirmed by the club yet but the news is that he has a hamstring strain, meaning at least 2-3 weeks on the sideline.

Nordtveit’s injury is only thought to be a slight knock, but it could put him out of contention for Bournemouth. Bilic has started to use him in a midfield three, so either Obiang will step up or we will move to 4-2-3-1.

Existing Squad Injuries

It’s not just new players on the treatment table, we have a couple of fan favourites there too. Aaron Cresswell is set to return around Christmas time, and at the moment it is impossible to set a specific date. He is currently being covered by Masuaku, but Bilic will want his main man back as soon as possible.

Payet did not travel with the squad, despite being registered, due to a slight knock. This is not as serious as Nordtveit’s, however, and he is expected to play on Sunday. Whether he will start or not remains to be seen.

Player Returning

In more positive news we have a player returning from injury! Manuel Lanzini is coming back from injury and should return to training next week. He will obviously not be ready to start straight away, but hopefully he will be back into the team soon. We need someone who can hold the ball in attack, and him alongside Payet would fill me with joy again.
