West Ham Transfer Update
With the first West Ham match of the Premier League season today, it’s worth remembering we’real still in the transfer window. We take some look at some of the rumours going round the internet, with the help of ExWhuEmployee

Croatian Links
Due to our manager being Bilic we have been linked to Croatian players all summer. So far this has amounted to nothing, but Bilic is keen to bring as many young talents to West Ham as he can. Ante Coric is the latest link and whilst ExWhuEmployee is certain there’s been some interest from the club it’s not close.
Young Croatian Alen Halilovic was linked earlier in the season, but in the end he joined Wolfsburg in Germany. At the time we decided we had enough of his style of play in the first team, and he would not have got the game time he wanted at West Ham. The links may prove useful in the future, but in this window it looks like nothing will come of it.
Midfield Strengthening
Slaven Bilic had highlighted his desire to bring in at least one more midfielder before the window shuts. He wants to be able to rotate the team with a testing Europa campaign coming up. The most recent rumour has been Inter’s Pereya, but that is looking unlikely. News sources have said we are close, but we are not willing to pay the fee the Italians are demanding.
Martin Odegaard was also linked with the club, a rumour I covered here. It is still a case of if Odegaard and Madrid are willing, the club will be interested. However West Ham feel a loan move for the youngster would be wasted.

As covered by ExWhuEmployee there is no-one particularly close to signing in midfield. The club have seen a number of targets sign new contracts or be put up for too high a price.
Strikers
Moving up the pitch we could see some activity soon, but that will depend on Sakho and Valencia moving. The club do not want to stretch themselves financially, and with Sakho’s failed medical we may be stuck. The club would rather keep Valencia than Sakho due to the Ecuadorian’s work ethic and versatility.
Regarding players coming in, Benteke could well be a likely target if he is still available once we’ve sold. The club do not want to overspend however, and matching the £32.5m asking price would be a big ask.

I would say most of the transfer activity is now done. There may be a few moves but unless something big changes there will not be a big money buy. Ayew and Carroll are likely to share striker duties for the season.
