Hull v Leicester

So you’re a team that have just been promoted into the Premier League so for the first match you want to be away from too much attention and a nice simple game? Early Kick off against the current champions? Oops.

  • Arsenal: Mikel Arteta will soon land in-house deal for "massive player"The Top Flight
  • This is going to be a tough game for Hull and I could see the score getting even messier than the one Jono and I have both predicted below. I can’t see Hull troubling Leicester as well.

    Jono: 0-2      Scott: 0-2

    Burnley v Swansea

Not a game that I think is going to be one to watch on MOTD and I wouldn’t expect anything too much from it. Swansea have lost a few of their main players and I think Burnley are too lightweight to stay in the Premier League.

    Jono: 1-2      Scott: 1-1

    Crystal Palace v West Brom

Another one that doesn’t scream out thriller to me, and with both teams failing to add a striker so far, and now with Bolasie looking like he’s heading to Everton this game could fall a bit flat. Benteke to Palace seems certain, but not in time for this weekend I would imagine.

    Jono: 2-0      Scott: 2-1

    Everton v Spurs

Two former Southampton managers go head to head here, with Spurs looking to go even better this year after a great title run which faded at the end. They will hope Kane starts firing and Dele Ali can build upon a great breakthrough season.

Everton will be playing their first competitive match under Koeman and will hope to better the performance they managed under Martinez last year, and maybe look to spend some of the John Stones transfer fee to help them do that. I don’t think they’re quite ready yet

    Jono: 3-1      Scott: 1-2

More from Green Street Hammers - West Ham

    Boro v Stoke

Boro have made a lot of signings this season and will be hoping to make a go of staying in the Premier League. Stoke have developed their style since the exit of Tony Pulis and will hope that Shaqiri, Arnautovic and Bojan can give them the creativity and flair necessary to get past a tricky opening day encounter.

    Jono: 1-1      Scott: 1-0

    Southampton v Watford

An interesting matchup between two managers new to the Premier League. Southampton may have lost Pelle but they have made some decent signings and I would expect them to be too good for Watford on Saturday.

    Jono: 2-0      Scott: 2-0

    Manchester City v Sunderland

The first match of a manager who has bought nothing but glory to the previous two teams he has managed is bound to bring excitement, and his opposite number will be hoping to forget his last two managerial appointments. Pep Guardiola and David Moyes could not be more different managers.

When Moyes has had his time with the squad they will be tough to beat, but at home I expect City to walk this match and we could see some goals here.

    Jono: 3-0      Scott: 3-0

    More from Analysis

    Bournemouth v Manchester United

Jose Mourinho returns to a ground that saw losses for his own Chelsea team as well as his current team, under former stewardship of Van Gaal, in the cherries’ first season in the Premier League. United have spent big to reinforce the squad and I think they could blow Bournemouth away here, but they do have the ability to counter if the Red Devil’s get too complacent.

    Jono: 0-4      Scott: 0-3

    Arsenal v Liverpool

A very interesting clash on Sunday as two teams with Champions League targets (and even title ambitions for Arsenal, if they sign a striker) go head to head on the first day. If either one of the teams can win this match it will seem like a huge psychological victory.

As it is both Jono and I have picked a score draw, I don’t think either team has an advantage in this encounter. Although Arsenal may struggle more due to a few more players being ruled out from strating through fitness concerns/

    Jono: 2-2      Scott: 2-2

    Next: League Prediction: 20th-16th

    Chelsea v  West Ham

A nice juicy London derby to start the season for Monday Night Football, and both teams will be thinking they can come away with all three points going into the match.

West Ham have made a few decent purchases and this is now the strongest squad we’ve had for a Premier League campaign, whilst Chelsea have retained the big players who misfired last year and will hope that new manager Conte has the answers about how to get them back on track.

    Jono: 2-1      Scott: 1-1
