A fairly quiet game from the big man up top, he didn’t have much opportunity to push the central defenders back in their own box and due to some very careful attention from their centreback he wasn’t able to do too much.

When we play with a natural CAM in the side the team have to drop off a bit more and that would allow Carroll to do all sorts of damage. He did pick up an assist for Kouyate’s second and looked to be fit and raring to go for the new season.
