Darren Randolph

Did I think he’d play? No. Would I have picked him given Adrian’s amazing double save against the opponents in the last match that kept us in it? No.

However the Irish No.1 performed perfectly well. He didn’t have too much to do but what he did he did solidly and never looked in too much trouble. He certainly handled the occasion better than his opposite number who only had Valencia’s glaring miss to thank for sparing his blushes after he dived out in multiple attempts to get the ball in a crowded penalty area.

Solid, but nothing spectacular, because not much was asked of him. A decent start for West Ham’s No.1.

7/10
