West Ham Left Back Replacement Hunt Goes On
As you probably already know by now, Aaron Cresswell picked up an injury in a pre-season friendly and is expected to be out for around 3-4 months. As such West Ham have made signing a left-back a priority.

We have posted a few articles on the subject, highlighting two Norwich targets and a host of other potential left back signings West Ham could make to replace the dynamic Aaron Cresswell.
It has come to light through reports that West Ham have made bids for a few defenders, and this has been confirmed by the ever-reliable ExWhuEmployee on his twitter account. Two of the rejected offers were offers to buy, and the other was an offer to loan a player from a top club.
As mentioned in the articles regarding the Norwich left back options the valuation the East Anglian club had was well above ours so we did not not go any further with that, although we are interested in signing their other left back Martin Olsson, however he is our second choice.

The other bid to buy that was rejected was for young Hull left back Andrew Robertson, who the club have been keeping tabs on for some time now. The fee that was offered is thought to have been around £8m, but Hull are keen to keep hold of him given his ability and the fact they have very few fit players to hand at the moment.
The other issue with Robertson is the fact he is unlikely to want to play back-up to Cresswell once he’s back from injury when he would certainly command a first team place at a lot of Premier League clubs. Because of this there may be an issue even if a fee is agreed between the two clubs.
Olsson is less likely to have the same issue given the fact he would be able to play Premier League football this year and maybe secure cup appearances in his contract for the season at least. He will be in the same position he is at Norwich, back up, but he will be earning a lot more to do so if he moved to West Ham.
The loan offer was for English left back Kieran Gibbs of Arsenal, who was through to be a very natural replacement for Cresswell. That being said Arsenal are not keen on weakening that side of their defence given the relative frailty of that part of the squad and the number of games the club have to play during their season.

According to Danish paper Bold another one of West Ham’s transfer targets, Ludwig Augustinsson has been ruled out after FC København manager Ståle Solbakken said the player would not be going anywhere this window unless a ludicrous offer was received.
