West Ham Olympic Stadium Update
West Ham’s move from the hallowed ground at Upton Park to the new stadium at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park this summer and understandably the fans are interested to know how things are progressing, so here’s our roundup.
Pitch and Seating
Having seen the updates posted by Karren Brady I think we can assume that everything is on schedule regarding the seating and the pitch itself. Officially the opening West Ham game will be the Juventus friendly in early August but we may well have a European match before then, although we are yet to officially confirm where the match will take place as the first leg will be before the stadium is open for use.

Refreshments
The club have shown pictures on the official site of the new coffee shop and refreshment areas whilst Jack Sullivan has confirmed that the beer that will be served at the stadium will be Heineken. Heineken were one of the companies rumoured to be interested in the name rights for the stadium but it seems they will have to settle for just selling their product on match days.
Naming
Nothing has officially been announced but it has been heavily reported that Indian company Mahindra have secured the naming rights to the stadium. This was a mutli-million pound deal that will see the club earn around £5m on top of the fee they have to pay to the LLDC for selling the rights as part of the lease agreement.

Stadium Extras
You may well have seen THe large replica shirts that the club have been putting up around the stadium and these all seem to be in place now, with Mark Noble, Dmitri Payet, Trevor Brooking as well as the World Cup winning trio of Hurst, Peters and Moore all honoured. We will have to see if any more hammers are remembered in this way.
Champions Way
If you are following social media you will have seen that the stones are starting to be laid on the new Champions Way. The club made time to show both the placement of legend Bobby Moore’s stone in the feature as well as the late Dylan Tombides’, who passed away whilst at the academy due to cancer. This should look really good when all put together and I’m looking forward to seeing it all in place on matchday.
The new stadium looks amazing, I’ll be sure to upload photos of my visit to the ground when I go to the Juventus game in August.
