Hammers In World Cup Qualifying Action
West Ham had a few players in World Cup Qualifying action over the past few days, and we take a look at them all including a frustrating night for France and Dimitri Payet and a dangerous shot from James Collins during the warm up!
Dimitri Payet
The French maestro made his second substitute appearance of the break again Belarus. The French team as a whole were frustrated in the match, which finished 0-0. It is clear what the French management think of the West Ham winger, as to when he is called into action.
He makes chances where others cannot. Loads of them. Without fail.
When he didn’t play well last year for us you wondered where goals were going to come from, and it seems the French management are starting to think the same, introducing the player after 57 minutes to try and break the stalemate. Enter Dimitri Payet:

Is there a better playmaker in the world right now? Possibly not. Certainly not one that cost only £10.5m. He’s still a Hammer and I would be surprised if he didn’t get a start on Saturday. It would certainly boost the mood at the Olympic Stadium.
James Collins
It was a deserved half century for Ginge, whose Wales side beat Moldova 4-0. The old fashioned defender replaced Everton’s Williams late in the match to make his 50th appearance for Wales, but it wasn’t that that’s getting the most media attention.
Prior to the match, during the warm up, Ginge was honing his shooting skills. Unfortunately, being a defender, not all shorts are that accurate. This one hit a young child in the face

What a lovely guy ey? Next time he’s warming up I might throw myself in front of his shot. See if I can get any merchanise. I’m a mens medium if you’re wondering.
Darren Randolph
The Irish number one is improving every single match. When he joined I was highly suspicious of his ability, and the first match was bad. Since then he has gone on and on and he’s definitely Ireland’s first choice keeper, with some even calling him to replace Adrian as the No.1 at club level.
Randolph was in fine form for the Boys In Green against Serbia, where they drew 2-2. He produced important saves at important moments to keep Ireland in it. Can he keep his form up and push the Spanish stopper for league game starts?
Angelo Ogbonna
Our Italian defender came on as a second half substitute in a 3-1 win over Israel. Ogbonna joined the game when the Italians when they were 2-1 up, keeping the backline tight as they increased their lead an held on for three points.
