GSH Staff Predictions:

Henry, West Ham United 1-3 Chelsea FC

Chelsea will almost certainly win this match, especially when you only consider current form, team strength and manger’s tactical skill. With all these factors considered and especially with Haller and Ogbonna likely too miss the game and Moyes’ refusal to experiment, it does seem quite perilous.

That all being said, it did seem this way in November, however, West Ham shocked their London rivals with a 1-0 victory at Stamford Bridge. The Hammers are always capable of a surprise and could do the same on Wednesday which would be a much-welcomed boost for the club.

It will be a very long night for the Hammers who have looked toothless going forward and will likely allow Chelsea plenty of chances to score. I do think West Ham will score their first goal since the restart, but it won’t be enough to get a result.

Jeremiah, West Ham United 0-2 Chelsea FC

If the past two matches have been any inclination of how the rest of West Ham’s season will go, then this week won’t have any different of an outcome. The Hammers are coming to the realization that this season might be a bust, but it also might be too late.

The fact that players and the coaching staff are just now addressing the situation is poor. The Blues look tough and will be a force for West Ham tomorrow afternoon. Look for much of the same as the Hammers will get shut down all over the pitch.

Aaron, West Ham United 1-1 Chelsea FC

At first, a glance given the results for the two clubs since the return of football, it’s easy to write off West Ham in this one. But when looking back at the previous 8 matches between the two sides, West Ham has three wins and two draws including a 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge earlier this year. This matchup isn’t as daunting as Liverpool or Manchester City.

This will be Chelsea’s third game in seven days and while Frank Lampard has rotated the squad quite a bit, there is an opportunity for West Ham if they can hang around with Chelsea for the first half of the match.

David Moyes will also have to leave his cautious comfort zone and be willing to make changes to the formation and personnel if they hope to frustrate the high flying West London squad. That’s a very big ‘IF’, but I’m going to err on the side of positivity and predict a hard-working effort by the players and a 1-1 result.

Adam, West Ham United 0-2 Chelsea FC

I am usually the eternal optimist, but with injuries still plenty in the West Ham team and a directionless manager at the helm, I’ll opt for a realistic prediction here against an in-form and potent Chelsea attack.

I do think that the Blues backline is questionable at best so there is opportunity to capitalize, but without Haller, Masuaku, and potentially Ogbonna I don’t like the Hammers chances in this one.

Jeff, West Ham United 0-2 Chelsea FC

Last November seems like ancient history when the Irons beat Chelsea 1-0 at Stamford Bridge. The last time West Ham completed a season double over the blues was 02-03, and the Hammers went down after that season.

Let’s not worry so much about that right now because 3 points here or in any upcoming fixture would do wonders for the club’s safety and the attitude around the team. Despite the fact that West Ham is not in any type of form since the restart and Chelsea are; the eternal optimist can make the case that this is about the best spot the club can catch their London rivals in.

The Hammers have been off 8 days and Chelsea has played twice in that same span. It’s a home game at London Stadium. Chelsea’s USA wunderkind Christian Pulisic limped off the pitch at the weekend at the end of the FA Cup game vs Leicester and is a fitness question for the Blues here. He has scored two goals since the restart of the EPL campaign.

West Ham has injury concerns of their own with Sebastian Haller and Angelo Ogbanna both training, but neither declared 100% fit for this one. All the angles are nice to talk about it but it’s a pretty simple prediction for this match—Chelsea is the better, deeper club with the better Manager and they are playing well. West Ham is not. Until the Irons show otherwise, more of the same results; 2-0 to Chelsea

So it’s mostly a defeat that has been predicted by the GSH staff. West Ham will right up against it, but let’s hope the Hammers can spring a surprise.
