Impact So Far: Unlike most of West Ham’s new signings, Fernandes has actually scored. Being forced to play everywhere across wide roles and in central midfield the young Swiss player has looked solid in most of the appearances he has made. His goal against Chelsea shows his talent in getting forward and I feel that’s his best role. Although a player’s versatility should never be undervalued, and he could be a key squad player.

Potential Future Impact: Fernandes could be a very useful player for many years to come. As a young player he will only improve, and he looks like a decent bit of scouting for once. Not many people had heard of him before he joined and I imagine that if the manager can keep him in and around the squad he could be a West Ham regular before long.
