From one international break to another, it is time to look at West Ham United’s next 4 matches and put on a tin hat to predict how many points they can acquire between now and then.

If there was ever a season where West Ham could push on and break the glass floor of the top 6, this one is it. After the Hammers impressive opening 7 matches that only saw them lose once, they failed to finish strong and lost a late one to Palace before this international break started.

With the Hammers sitting in 8th place after 8 matches, these next few games will, once again, see them face equal or lesser opponents in the table. With that, it’s time to predict how West Ham will fare over the next 4 matches.

Everton Away

This meeting will the 141st time these two have faced off. The words “Everton away” has typically been a scary thought, but not this season. The Toffies are currently sitting in the relegation zone and their Gaffer is very much on the hot seat. This is a typical “incomes West Ham” match, however, I see the Hammers bouncing back and winning big. (3 points total)

Sheffield United

Although many wouldn’t count a Blades v Hammers match to be a rivalry, expect a lot of shoving and plenty of Tevez masks to be dawned throughout the London Stadium. With Sheffield having a solid first season back in the EPL, this matchup will be a lot tighter than many would hope.

The Blades, however, will be coming off a short week having just played Arsenal so it will be perfect timing for the Hammers. It’ll be tight but in the end, another win and possibly a huge step up the table. (6 points total)

Newcastle United
Newcastle United /

The ever-growing comparisons and coinciding “rivalry” between Declan Rice and Sean Longstaff continue in this one at the London Stadium. The Toons have seen better days on both sides of the pitch as they currently sit with a -8 goal differential.

Prior to this match, Newcastle has to take on Chelsea and Wolves, neither will be simple. With both of these thoughts going in the way of West Ham, this is a simple case, again, of the Hammers being in the right place at the right time. (9 total points)

Burnley away

More from Green Street Hammers - West Ham

Out of all four of these fixtures over the next 4 weeks, this one is possibly the most equal yet terrifying for the Hammers. Burnley is only ahead of the Hammers by goal differential but has once again slowly and quietly moved their way up the EPL table.

Looking back at the Hammer’s previous 3 matches and with them potentially winning them all, this one match once again draw up the headlines of “more missed chances lead to the loss.” Unfortunately, there might not be a clean sweep between international breaks and West Ham will sadly lose this match at Turf Moor.

With the predicted 9 points in the next 4 matches, that would give West Ham a grand total of 21 points through 12 matches. With the way that the table is going this season and with many of the teams above West Ham either playing each other facing stiff competition anything can happen between now and November 9th.

It’s time to get more clinical, help each other out, and continue to defend as a unit as the big picture here is simple. The Hammers need to once again take advantage of this situation and get the points where they are needed because the schedule won’t be this easy forever.
