West Ham will be saying goodbye to cult hero Adrian this summer as his contract is set to expire. But we may be seeing him next year all the same.

With the signing, and complete domination of the goalkeeping position, from Lukas Fabianski, Adrian was not seen all too often this season. And with his contract up, he is set to leave West Ham for free this summer on a free.

But his destination may not be a return to Spain as many had thought, but further North. With Liverpool challenging for multiple trophies throughout the season there aren’t too many weaknesses in the side. But it looks as though Jurgen Klopp thinks that Adrian could be a perfect backup keeper to Allisson in place of Simon Mignolet.

More from Green Street Hammers - West Ham

According to Goal.com Klopp is looking to consolidate the squad growth that we have seen from the Merseyside club over the past few years with spending on maybe one or two positions, but saving elsewhere. Given the fact that Adrian is available on a free would truly suit the Merseyside club, and they’d be getting a decent backup keeper for cheap whilst the Spaniard would be getting a wonderful opportunity to play some cup games and be part of a great squad.

Any professional footballer would enjoy being part of a record breaking squad. Yes unfortunately for them it has resulted in zero trophies so far, but they have the Champions League final ahead and they won’t stay empty handed for long if they keep this squad together. And with their financial clout Adrian could find himself upping his salary for a cushy job sitting on the bench behind one of the best goalkeepers in the world. And when he played, he’d be behind a great defence and involved in a top team.

Next. Who will be West Ham's back up keeper next season?. dark

Obviously this is not a done deal and there are many things that can happen in football, especially when you have a family to think about, but I can see this move happening. Could Adrian make himself even more disliked in Everton and join the reds? If he was to go on and win things, I personally would be very happy for him.
